VDO RoadLog ELD Successfully Meets FMCSA Data Transfer Test

·       Drivers can easily transfer data electronically from roadside to enforcement officials via wireless and USB

Allentown, PA (January 30, 2018) – Continental, a leading global supplier of systems, components, and tires to automobile and truck manufacturers, and a world leader in Electronic Logging Device technology, has announced that its VDO RoadLog™ ELD platform has successfully completed data transfer testing with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

The VDO RoadLog ELD confirmed compliance with ELD mandate regulations by effectively demonstrating its ability to transfer data to an authorized enforcement official’s PC via a wireless internet connection and locally via USB 2.0. The data transfer testing was conducted 12-5-17 with the FMCSA during an ELD Data Transfer Demo Training exercise at the Dumfries, Virginia Motor Carrier Service Center (weigh station) located at (I-95) mile marker 154N.

The successful results of this test means that drivers using the VDO RoadLog ELD will be able to transmit log data electronically while roadside to FMCSA’s ELD monitoring software (eRODS), now in use by state and federal law enforcement. During the testing, VDO RoadLog also demonstrated the ability to generate a printout for manual inspections.

The announcement was made by Alexis Capelle, ELD Program Manager at Continental, who noted, “We are delighted that our VDO RoadLog ELD was able to comply with the FMCSA mandate requirements by successfully transferring its data to an authorized safety official’s PC. In fact, VDO RoadLog was the only ELD that tested successfully using both wireless web services and USB. VDO RoadLog customers can rest assured that their VDO RoadLog ELD is currently compliant and will continue to meet compliance requirements.”
